Mark Giuliano is a dynamic and creative artist in the world of rock and alternative rock. With music that drips with authenticity and lyrics that deep-dive into the realm of poetry, Giuliano’s artistry is nothing short of captivating.

Eclectic influences

Mark Giuliano’s musical journey is as diverse and electrifying as the influences that have shaped him. He draws inspiration from legends like Freddie Mercury and Queen, the innovative David Bowie, Collective Soul and U2, and quintessential lyricists such as the Indigo Girls, Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, and Bob Dylan. But Giuliano’s influences don’t stop there. He also takes cues from gritty North American roots rockers such as Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, John Hiatt, and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, adding a layer of authenticity to his distinctive style.

From the drum kit to the spotlight

Mark Giuliano’s musical journey began behind the drum kit, where he co-wrote and played for Canadian metal and new wave bands during the vibrant ’80s music scene. It was in the ’90s that Giuliano decided to step into the spotlight as a singer-songwriter, crafting his own musical sounds and stories. In 1992 his talent shone through with the release of “I Hear You Calling” and “Lonely Man,” which quickly found a home in regular rotation on radio stations across Northern Ontario.

In 2002, Mark Giuliano achieved a remarkable milestone when he received a Presidential Citation from President George W. Bush for his moving 9/11 tribute song, “Shoulder to Shoulder.” On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, this heartfelt composition was professionally scored and brought to life by Giuliano himself, alongside a choir and orchestra, in a poignant performance in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

A return to roots rock

Since 2023, Mark Giuliano has come full circle, returning to his acoustic-rock roots. Some of his recent tracks, like “Canadian Dream,” were recorded in the heart of Nashville with the rhythm section from Reba McEntire’s band, and masterfully fine-tuned by the legendary Gene Eichelberger, known for his work with Neil Young and John Hiatt. Other new songs, such as “We Belong Together” and “Can’t Find a Kiss,” received the mastering touch of George Graves, noted for his work with Peter Gabriel, Rush, and U2, in Toronto, Canada.

Personal life

Mark Giuliano lives in Savannah, Georgia. He loves being a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design and, with his wife Beth, co-leading the Montgomery Presbyterian Church.
